Butterflies don’t appear often in Northwest Coast Indigenous art as they don’t feature prominently in oral histories or ceremonial life. However, they do have a special meaning as they symbolize transformation and renewal, resilience, beauty and balance, seasonal cycles and spiritual connection. Butterflies also represent hope, healing, and the presence of ancestors or spirits.
This limited edition silk screen print titled “Butterflies” by Trevor Husband was hand produced by the screen-printing process. It is the only limited-edition printing of this design. The artist has inspected and signed each copy in the edition. The printer has destroyed all trial copies and obliterated the printing stencils.
