The Messenger is a limited edition print by Phil Joe. It shows three dragonflies, each with the image of a horned owl in its wings. The owl is seen as a protector, or guardian. It represents wisdom and ancient knowledge.

In the Coast Salish world, the dragonfly is highly regarded. Phil Joe says; "The dragonfly has two sets of wings; one to send prayers to the ones we lose, the other to send prayers to the ones who are left behind."

This limited edition silk screen print titled "The Messenger" by Phil Joe was hand produced by the screen printing process. It is the only limited edition printing of this design. The artist has inspected and signed each copy in the edition. All trial copies of this edition have been destroyed and the printing stencils obliterated.
