"The Edge and Beyond the Edge, evolved from the same thumbnail sketch. Dr David Suzuki, a Canadian scientist and activist, often makes reference to human actions affecting the thin blue line, which inspired me to create these images.

Beyond the edge of the earth’s rocky crust, there is a thin blue line separating life on earth from the infinite blackness of space. This is our atmosphere… just a few kilometres of water vapour and other gaseous molecules. Within the zone of our thin biosphere, life thrives and evolves. We humans are part of a web of interconnections closely linked to one another. All of our behaviours, whether biological, cultural or economic in nature, are activities within a larger ecosystem; we humans are not independent. In a very short time, we have transformed from small societies living within nature, to handling small pockets of wilderness within our expanding human landscape.

This serigraph is #2 from an edition of two (2) printer's proofs. The regular edition consists of 110 signed and numbered prints.

This limited edition silk screen print titled "Beyond The Edge" by Susan Point was hand produced by the screen printing process. It is the only limited edition printing of this design. The artist has inspected and signed each copy in the edition. All trial copies of this edition have been destroyed and the printing stencils obliterated.
