Elk Hunt (Printer’s Proof)

Roy Vickers’ family lives mostly on wild game, so each fall he likes to travel to the Kootenays to hunt elk. One year, after a successful day, he noticed an old pine tree silhouetted against a beautiful sunset. While taking photos, the branches reminded him of a bull elk’s antlers, bringing back memories of years spent hearing elk bugle in the wilderness.

Roy now refers to the moon in late September as the Moon of the Bugling Bull Elk.

There is a superimposed shadow image of the Bugling Bull Elk Moon in the top left corner of the design.

This serigraph is from an edition of two (2) printer’s proofs.

This limited edition silk screen print titled “Elk Hunt” by Roy Henry Vickers was hand produced by the screen printing process. It is the only limited edition printing of this design. The artist has inspected and signed each copy in the edition. All trial copies of this edition have been destroyed and the printing stencils obliterated.
